Briefing Session: grow your career with entrepreneurial thinking

What you'll do
This briefing session will explore the basics of an entrepreneurial mindset, help you identify your current strengths in entrepreneurial thinking, how to develop further, and suggestions for using entrepreneurial thinking to support your career – whatever your aspirations.

Who it's for

Research staff and teaching staff on fixed term contracts and academic staff on open-ended contracts with review dates (OERD).
This session is not open to academic staff on open-ended lecturing contracts.

Why attend
Entrepreneur comes from (via a complicated route) a French word for “undertaking or managing”. Too often ‘entrepreneurism’ is associated solely with setting up a business. In reality, most researchers engage in entrepreneurial thinking on a near daily basis. Understanding our entrepreneurial thinking is important whether you want to set up your own business, progress in your current career, or change career.

  • After this session, you'll be able to:
understand the basics of an entrepreneurial mindset
  • identify your current strengths in entrepreneurial thinking
  • recognise ways to develop your entrepreneurial thinking further
  • consider how entrepreneurial thinking can support your career ambitions

The facilitator for this session is Darcey Gillie.
