Morning staff writing retreat (Oct)

What you'll do

This morning hybrid writing retreat offers University of Edinburgh research and academic staff protected time to advance their individual writing projects, such as book chapters, journal articles, research proposals, and reports. The retreat is designed to facilitate focused writing effort in a structured, supportive environment.

Format and options:

  • Session choice: You can choose either a morning-only session or extend your writing time by booking an additional afternoon session for a full day of writing.
  • Attendance mode: Join either online or in-person at a designated room on central campus.

Purpose and approach: The primary goal of the retreat is to provide academic staff with uninterrupted time to progress on their writing tasks. Unlike a workshop, the retreat focuses solely on writing, with each participant working on their own projects.

Preparation: Participants are expected to arrive with a clear plan of what they will work on and must bring their own writing devices, such as a laptop, along with necessary accessories like a charging cable.

Guidelines for participation: To maintain a conducive writing environment and minimize disruptions, attendees are strongly encouraged to stay for the entire duration of the booked sessions and avoid entering or leaving during these times.
