Writing a Data Management Plan for your Research What you'll do This practical workshop will help you produce a first draft Data Management Plan (DMP) for your research project. It introduces the purpose and key components of a good DMP, including planning for data organisation, storage, documentation, sharing and preservation. What we'll cover What is Data Management Planning? Why does it matter? An introduction to DMPonline. What data will be collected or created? How will the data be documented and described? How will the data be stored, backed-up and secured? How will ethics and intellectual property be handled? How, when, and where will data be preserved and shared? Who is responsible and what will it cost? After this workshop participants will be able to: Understand the necessity/benefits of producing a DMP. Know how to register for and use DMPonline. Have drafted a basic DMP that they can complete after the workshop. Please Note: attendees should bring a laptop or tablet to write their DMP on either using DMPonline or the basic template the tutor will provide. It would also be helpful if they could bring their project outline to base their draft DMP on.
