Exploring Collaboration Series: ending well and sustaining momentum

What you'll do
As collaborative projects head towards completion (especially where there is funding in place with a fixed time-frame for spending) it is easy to focus on getting the project over-the-line and not pay enough attention to future opportunities and maintenance of the collaborative relationships beyond the project. This workshop will explore not only how to close collaborative projects effectively but also how to ensure that the benefits of the collaboration last well beyond the end of the project.

What we'll cover

Project Closure:

  • Final push planning and scope prioritisation
  • Managing disengaged partners
  • Planning for and managing delivery of outputs
  • Dissemination routes beyond traditional academic outputs

Recognition and Reflection:

  • Celebrating success
  • Recognising contributions, earning from challenges
  • Capturing learning and evidence for future grant applications and narrative CVs

Future Collaboration:

  • Maintaining relationships
  • Exploring funding opportunities
  • Staying project-ready.

After this session, you'll be able to:

  • Wrap up collaborations efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and reports.
  • Maintain engagement through to project closure and beyond.
  • Celebrate contributions and build goodwill for future partnerships.
  • Identify strategies for sustaining momentum and securing follow-on opportunities.

Important to know
This workshop is part of a ‘Exploring Collaboration Series’ designed to equip researchers with the skills, confidence, and tools to lead and sustain effective collaborations. Each of the workshops are standalone but there will be themes which build across the workshops for participants who attend all the sessions.

This session is facilitated by Robin Henderson.
