Researchers – What you need to do at the outset of your project

  • Familiarise yourself with terms & conditions of your award
  • Liaise with local research support & HR to arrange recruitment and staffing
  • Follow University policies on procurement and retain records of selection of services and subcontractors
  • Ensure project starts in line with agreed dates and notify your Research Grants Administrator if “Starting Certificate” is to be submitted
  • Communicate any changes to projects to your Research Grants Administrator (e.g. delays in start, changes to duration, budget amendments, partner changes)
  • Ensure appropriate funding is in place before making staff appointments and arranging expenditure on your project
  • Check if staff time recording is required and ensure you and your research team have appropriate access to systems and have arrangements in place for authorisation of records.
